Senior Intergenerational Social Capital Project (SISC)n - The aim of SISC is to capitalise on the potential of senior workers, especially if close to retirement, fostering the transfer of individual know-how and competencies to new generations of workers within companies. A European initiative - a possible resource for ideas in this area.
Prime: Helping over 50s back into work through self-employment.
Then initiative provides free information, events and training to help older adults back into work by starting their own business. PRIME has another web site that provides practical information and guidance to such "olderpreneurs". (This initiative is currently not active in Scotland but ideas are relevant.)
Entrepreneurs over 50 will share a £100,000 pilot fund as part of NESTA's Age Unlimited Scotland challenge. Read about the winning ideas from Forfar, Edinburgh, East Kilbride, Balmedie, Argyll and Spean Bridge. N.B. The current application deadline has passed. Check Nesta website for new dates.
